September 10 Day Detox

So many of us are chronically brain-fogged, bloated, fatigued, and aching; and many of us are, sadly, so used to this state of being that we don’t realize we’re not in optimal health. However, if we consider the toxins we breathe, ingest, and touch every day, it’s no surprise that after a time they would build up and make us feel chronically under-the-weather. We will always be exposed to environmental toxins; the good news is that we have the tools to fight them!

Experts suggest that we should detox four times a year, at every season change. Honey’s Harvest Farm offers just such a quarterly detox, based on Dr. Alberto Villoldo’s book Grow A New Body and the principles of Dr. Mark Hyman.

During this detox, which lasts ten days, participants eliminate trigger foods that can compromise health, including sugar, caffeine, alcohol, coffee, chocolate, processed grains, gluten, eggs, dairy, legumes, and nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, and eggplant).

What can participants eat, then? A lot! Berries, green apples, avocados, all nuts and nut butters (except for peanuts, which are actually a legume!), olive oil, coconut oil and coconut manna, kale, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and all the cruciferous vegetables, quinoa (which is technically a seed, not a grain!), tahini, all kinds of seeds, chicken, and wild-caught salmon.

This is a meal that a past participant made during the detox. Yum!

Curiously, fermented foods, although generally good for health due to their abundance of probiotics, are not part of the detox program, since they can cause a histamine reaction in some people. If you’re curious about that, you might be interested in this article.

The best part about this detox is that anyone can take part, in Anna Chaney’s words, “In the comfort of your own home, anywhere in the world.”

If you’re interested, you can sign up here to become part of a private Facebook group where, during the ten days of the detox, participants will receive personal support, encouragement, and wisdom from Anna. We will eliminate the trigger foods mentioned above and bring in the supportive ones. We will also take supplements that will open detoxification pathways and turn on regenerative genes to replace old, toxic cells.

This detox is not a diet; participants will eat three meals per day plus snacks, and the restrictions on types of food will last only for ten days. Participants will also minimize consumption of fiber between 6 p.m. and 12 p.m.

The Facebook group will open on August 19; the detox will officially start on Friday, September 18, at the Brooks Woods Retreat House (5819 Brooks Woods Road, Lothian, MD 20711), where Anna will demonstrate juicing techniques and meal prep best practices, as well as talk more in-depth about what to expect during the detox.

Anna says, “One of our greatest responsibilities is to take care of ourselves … When we’re clear and healthy, we can be connected.”

If you want to optimize your health and wellbeing, tackle a specific health concern, improve digestive health, reduce or eliminate joint pain, headaches, brain fog, bloating, and lethargy, and/or enhance liver function, this detox is for you! Losing weight is not the goal of the program, but is a welcome side effect for many.

So many people don’t even have the resources to learn about the impact that environmental toxins have on them, much less what they can do about it. To take advantage of this privilege of knowledge that we are blessed with, sign up today!
